  • AC/DC Countdown To What?

I’m a huge fan of hard rockin’ AC/DC so I check in on this excellent live band to see what they’ve been up to from time to time. If you go to their website, www.acdc.com, you’ll see that they currently have a countdown timer running on their homepage. I did a little checking to see what I could find out about what AC/DC has up their sleeve.

The rumors are running wild in all the fan forums with speculations on everything from a new tour, a new album or a new box set just in time for Christmas. I put the most credence in the box set speculation simply because of the fact that they’ve created a brand new website called acdcbacktracks.com which is showing a video clip of some classic Bon Scott footage.     (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Family Guy, Stewie Writes A Song

Okay being a songwriter myself, this song by none other than Stewie Griffin, really cracked me up. If you write songs it’s easy to relate to following the sound of the chord changes while writing lyrical content. Minor chords suggest sad lyrics, or troubled lyrics while major chords suggest happy and upbeat lyrics. It’s pretty funny watching Stewie hack out a song while explaining major and minor chord changes as well as  tempo manipulation. All common songwriting techniques.

I hope you enjoy todays Sunday Funnies!

  • Sunday Funnies – William Hung “She Bangs” Audition and Video

William Hung, just his name makes me laugh! It’s like a porn stars name… But talk about an unlikely celebrity. For today’s Sunday Funnies I’m posting up the original William Hung American Idol audition video so you see what kicked off his 15 minutes of fame. It’s an audition so bad that you just can’t ignore the poor guy.

I’m also posting up the music video that William Hung made to go with his studio recording of “She Bangs”. It totally cracks me up because William hates being touched and it’s funny to watch him pull away from all these beautiful women in the video. The “give me my backpack” scene at the end of the video is hilarious too. Enjoy!        (more…)

  • Phil Collins – Take Me Home (Live)

This excellent video of the legendary Phil Collins is from his farewell tour with this show being in Paris, France. I really like this clip because of the great drumming at the beginning of the songs. Phil is in fine vocal form and I really enjoy the fact that Phil has Father Time playing bass in his live band.     (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – The Ultimate Showdown

It’s really interesting what people will spend their time and creative energies creating. Today I’m putting up a funny song with a video titled “The Ultimate Showdown”. It’s fascinating because these guys took the time to write and record the song as well as animate the whole thing.

It’s funny, kind of, but it’s even more funny because it’s just not that great. I got a chuckle or two out of it but it did leave me scratching my head and thinking “why?”. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!    (more…)

  • Sympathy For The Devil by Belly Bongo Bo

Okay, it’s kinda sick but it’s funny as hell too. Belly Bongo Bo uses an instrument he grew on his body, his belly, as a bongo drum. So there’s hope for all the fat guys that can’t seem to find an instrument to play in the band. Watch and learn fella’s….     (more…)

  • Stewart Copeland Live Drum Recording Of “So Lonely” Mid 80’s

This is a live recording of The Police performing the song “So Lonely” during the 1980’s. This clip focuses on the drumming of Stewart Copeland. It’s no secret that The Police are a very high energy live band and this clip is a perfect example of them in their prime.

What I like about this clip is that it shows just how fast and powerful Stewart’s drumming was back in the 80’s. I saw them on their last reunion tour and he is a much more disciplined and accurate drummer now. But, there is a fantastic energy to his drumming in this clip. It may not be the most accurate but it’s incredibly full of raw power and drive. That’s what makes live rock-n-roll so much fun is when that energy is spilling from the stage.

I hope you enjoy this classic clip of The Police and their fabulous drummer, Stewart Copeland.    (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Funny Street Musicians in New York City

There’s some funny moments in this video clip. Enough to make me watch the whole thing anyway which is saying something for a 9-minute clip!         (more…)

  • Playing For Change -“Stand By Me” – Song Around The World

Playing for change is the ultimate in Live Band experiences! This video was compiled from performances by musicians around the world. They had never met and yet they created this beautiful version of “Stand By Me”. I have always loved the idea of music as the One World Language and this production goes a long way toward proving that point. I wholeheartedly support and applaud this tremendous effort and I hope this project brings us all a vision of a united world.

There truly is peace in music and the Playing For Change project is a great example of peaceful creation. Check out the entire project at http://playingforchange.com

  • Sunday Funnies – United Breaks Guitars

This video was made about a man’s true experience with United Airlines. Dave Carroll’s $3500 Taylor guitar was broken by baggage handlers at United Airlines. They never denied that this happened but refused to pay for the broken instrument. So, to get back at the airline Dave vowed to write and produce 3 songs about his experience and then film videos for each to be posted online.

This is the first of those three songs, it’s really funny and I hope you enjoy it. If you’re a guitarist and own a high end guitar, then I’m sure you can feel the guys pain.     (more…)
