  • Video clip of The Who playing a cover version of The Beatles song “Saw Her Standing There”.

I thought this was a very interesting and funny video clip. It’s the cross-mixing of two of my favorite bands of all time, The Who and The Beatles.

It’s common knowledge that Keith Moon and Ringo Starr were very good friends and drinking buddies. I’m sure there was a sense of rivalry between The Who and The Beatles as well. This clip features The Who playing a cover of The Beatles song “Saw Her Standing There” during a filmed rehearsal in 1977.    (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Kids Cartoon Candy Cigarettes

Everybody knows that any smoking at all is not good for your body. So it was a pretty major marketing blunder when someone got the bright idea to put famous cartoon characters on candy cigarettes. Having kids associate Spider-Man with smoking is maybe not the best thing for good ol’ Spidey’s image. Okay, they’re calling them “candy sticks” but we all know they’re just re-packaged candy cigarettes.     (more…)

  • Jeff Beck & Tal Wilkenfeld – Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers Live Video

Jeff Beck is my very favorite guitar player of all time. I love his playing style and the amazing sounds he gets out of his Fender Stratocaster. He has recently been playing with an excellent live band that features the very talented Tal Wilkenfeld on bass guitar. Tal is 23 years old and has already played bass with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page.

In this video clip from the 2007 Crossroads Festival Jeff is performing his beautiful song “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” in which Tal takes and extended bass solo. You can see that she really knows how to play and is continuing to get better on the bass guitar. I hope you enjoy this clip as much as I did.    (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Up Butt Coconut

This stupid video cracked me up for one main reason. When I was about 12 years old, I got in some major trouble for teaching my 4-year old nephew how to say “Up your butt with a coconut”. Now I thought it was truly unfair that I had gotten busted by my Sister-In-Law for teaching my nephew a phrase that had been a playground put-down staple for years!!

Phil, if you’re reading this, I hope it brings back some memories!    (more…)

  • Joe Satriani – Flying In A Blue Dream (Live In San Francisco)

What can I say about the amazing Joe Satriani. He is truly a guitar god and one of the finest live guitarists on the planet. This video clip is from his excellent live concert DVD “Live In San Francisco” which also features bass god Stuart Hamm.

This song, Flying In A Blue Dream, is the first song off the album of the same name. Flying In A Blue Dream is an album that changed my entire approach to the guitar and this song kicked off that album. I’ve always loved it and in this video clip, Joe is in his finest form. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did.    (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Green Jelly “The Three Little Pigs” Video

Ahh yes, a classic metal tune by the crazy metal band Green Jelly. This was huge back in 1993 and we used to watch it on MTV all the time. My oldest son used to be scared to death of Rambo in it. He was so scared, all we had to do was say “Raaaambo!” to him and he’d run and hide. Of course he was only two years old at the time.   (more…)

  • Sunday Funnies – Pachelbel’s Canon In D Comedy Rant

This is funny because the guy has a point about how simple Pachelbel’s Canon in D is to play. He also has a funny point about how many times that particular chord progression is used in modern pop music. Enjoy!       (more…)

  • AC/DC Live With Legendary Bon Scott

Yes AC/DC really is one of my favorite live bands of all time. It was truly a sad day when lead singer Bon Scott died from choking on his own vomit after a long night of heavy drinking. Let that be a lesson to you to never leave a totally drunk, passed out band member unattended while they’re unconcious from the alcohol. All they need is a friend to roll them over if they let the ol’ stomach contents fly.

That being said, while Bon Scott captained the AC/DC ship it was truly a rocking site to behold. I hope you enjoy todays clip of AC/DC playing “Let There Be Rock” live at Golders Green, England in 1977. Long live Bon Scott wherever he may be!     (more…)

  • Propellerhead Reason 4 Introduction Video

Yesterday on Live Musician Central I wrote about how much I love Reason 4.0 Music Production Software. It’s by far the easiest program I’ve found that will allow you to tap into your creative muse with keyboard based music. Today I’m going to post a couple videos from YouTube which will give you an introduction into the functionality of Reason 4.0 music production software. The demonstration is done on an apple Macintosh but Reason functions exactly the same way on a P.C. which is what I use. Reason really is worth every penny to add it to your software collection.     (more…)
