This is set list number 7 in the Live Musician Central series of downloadable dance set lists. The songs that comprise the set lists have been chosen from the Mobile Beat 200 Best Dance Songs Of All Time. In the clubs these songs are all proven floor fillers every time they’re played. Even if your band doesn’t learn all these songs they’re essential to have loaded on your iPod or portable music player to play during your band breaks. My band has been able to keep the crowd up dancing and happy by being able to play all their requests (even the requests the band doesn’t know) by having these songs on the iPod. We put on the audience requests during band breaks and having these songs has been a real life saver. It’s amazing how many times the songs in these set lists get requested. It’s a great way to keep the party going all night long! I wrote a post you should read about the advantages of using iTunes iMix feature to get your band on the same page while learning songs called Creating A Setlist Using iTunes iMix. So please download and enjoy Live Musician Central Dance Set List #7.     Continue reading “Live Musician Central Dance Set List 7, iTunes iMix”

Live Musician Central – Weekend Album Picks 2-28-09

Live Musician Central picks the top releases for the current week as well as some classic albums for building your setlist.

Every week at Live Musician Central I pick some of the top new releases available for you to download from both iTunes and Amazon.com music service.  These new release choices reflect the heaviest music industry marketing. There are a couple of reasons I post up the most heavily music industry marketed albums. First, by checking out these releases you’ll be able to keep a finger on the pulse of the mainstream music industry. It’s music industry is a very powerful business that heavily influences peoples buying choices. The second reason is that a large number of people are going to know these albums. So if your band is looking for new music to put in your bands setlist these would be good choices simply because your chance of people knowing the songs at your shows will be very high. You’ll also look very on top of things and current with your knowledge of music. So these albums are a great resource for your song selection. I will also post up links to some top selling albums of all time for the reason of song selection as well.

I use links to both iTunes and Amazon.com. iTunes is now the top music retailer in the U.S. so it goes without saying that people are going to be downloading their recommended new releases. I put links up from Amazon.com because their music service is an incredible bargain and their MP3’s are DRM free. You can save a bundle downloading entire albums from Amazon.com instead of  iTunes. Amazon.com MP3’s are also ripped at an excellent sounding 256kbps and since they’re DRM free you can play them on multiple MP3 players including iPods and iPhones.

Live Musician Central Downloadable Set Lists
Live Musician Central Downloadable Set Lists

Earlier on Live Musician Central I wrote a post detailing the benefits of using iTunes custom iMix feature to create set lists for your live band to learn. You can check out that article here: Creating A Setlist Using iTunes iMix. There are a lot of advantages to using the iMix feature to create your band set lists. The top reason to do it is so that all members of your band can get the same version of the song from the same place. That way you don’t have your bass player learning the live version of a song, your drummer learning a studio outtake and your guitarist learning the radio edit.

Today I want to point you to the Live Musician Central Downloadable Setlist page that has links to all the custom iMixes that I have created. These setlists were created using the Top 200 dance songs of all time. I created the setlists to have a flow to them that will work very well in a club. If you’re looking for a starting place to build up your band set list then these iMixes are a great place to start.

Live Musician Central – Weekend Album Picks 12-5-2008

Britney Spears new album Circus is out and it’s Christmas so why not treat yourself to some great music downloads. With Amazon.com’s DRM free MP3 downloads you can even download from Amazon and give it away as a Christmas present. As usual, every weekend here at Live Musician Central we post up several albums for you to check out and download. We feature some of the most heavily marketed new releases every week. These albums are a good example of what the music industry is marketing and you can use them as a guide for building your bands songlist. You always want to play songs the people will be familiar with and there’s an excellent chance that the albums featured in our weekend album picks will have a lot of songs that people will know. It’s a good idea to have them on your MP3 player at gigs so you can test them out on an audience before you spend the time learning them. The album picks can make great break music.

We feature downloads from iTunes as well as MP3 downloads from Amazon.com music service. The Amazon.com MP3’s are ripped at 256kbps and are DRM free so you can copy them to as many music players as you like. They’re priced very low when you download entire albums. With the Amazon widgets below you can preview the album right here on Live Musician Central. A really great thing about Amazon.com’s DRM free downloads is you can download the album, then give it as a Christmas present. I know I said that before, but it bears repeating!

I’m also posting a link to the iTunes $4.99 Album Of The Week. You can bet that people will be knowing those songs as well and it’s a great deal on a full album.
