Here’s another great Fender Cyber-Twin SE patch from Live Musician Central for all you Cyber-Twin SE owners out there. I’ve always been a huge fan of using timed delays on my guitar. I’m a huge Brian May fan and also a big fan of  The Edge from U2 both of whom are masters of using delay on their guitars. Just check out Brian May’s guitar solo on the Live At Wembley Stadium DVD for a great example of working with a triple delay for some really fun guitar harmonies.

That brings me to todays preset patch for the Fender Cyber-Twin SE. The Cyber-Twin SE has a killer tape echo setting that is perfect for creating timed delays that have a beautifully chorused sound as well. Fender has incorporated a great simulation of tape head Wow and Flutter that gives a sweet detuned chorus effect along with this delay. So I’ve used that feature to great effect in my Triple Delay patch.

The Triple Delay patch that I’ve programmed is basically an equally spaced 3 hit delay setting. With your guitars original signal being the first hit and then a repeat on the left speaker followed by an equally spaced repeat from the right speaker. The goal was to create an effect that would sound like 3 guitars. It’s really fun to play harmonized scales as well as holding big power chords and letting the delays pile on top of each other for a huge guitar sound.

You can change the tempo of the delays by using the tap button to change the delay time. In the soundclip I have the delay set to approximately 118 Beats Per Minute. My band uses some sequenced tracks live and I have a bank of Triple Delays preset to various tempos that I can switch to using my foot controller. I don’t like to rely on the Tap Tempo button live if I can have the delay timing match the beat of the song exactly. There is one thing to be aware of with the Cyber-Twin SE delay setting when setting your delays to various tempos. If you’re using the delay formula to figure out how many milliseconds to set the delay so that the repeats happen on the beat, you’ll need to double the result on the Cyber-Twin SE. For example, on a song with a tempo of 120 Beats Per Minute you would normally set a delay time of 500 ms for the repeats to happen every quarter note. With the Triple Delay patch on the Cyber-Twin SE you would set the Delay time to 1000 ms. I hope that makes sense to you, leave comments below if you have delay setting questions.

Also, I’ve assigned the continuous controller pedal to control the Echo Out Level in case you want to back down the presence of the delay repeats. I’ve assigned the expression pedal to control the Echo Feedback in case you want to get some immense amounts of echo going.

LMC Triple Delay is one of my favorite preset patches that I’ve programmed for my Cyber-Twin SE and I’ve used it on several different recordings with my band Shufflin’ Noah. Most notably on the Shufflin’ Noah song Thank You which I’ve posted below.

The soundclip of LMC Triple Delay was recorded using my 2005 Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster set to the bridge pickup which is the standard Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickup that comes with this excellent guitar. I’ve posted the MIDI System Exclusive data for easy transferring to your Fender Cyber-Twin SE as well as the text file for this patch. If you don’t know how to use MIDI System Exclusive data to transfer patches to your amplifier, I’ve written a tutorial for you here: How To Save And Load Presets To Your Fender Cyber-Twin SE.

  1. Another winner. I like the band song. Upbeat and positive. Which is something I feel is lacking in too much music.
